Pottery Supplies in Qatar — Clay, Glaze, Wheels & Tools

Pottery Supplies in Qatar

Whether you're starting your first pottery wheel at home, equipping a school studio, or restocking your professional practice — this is the one-stop guide to every clay body, glaze, tool and pottery wheel available in Qatar through Ceramic Cube, Doha. Most items in stock locally. International orders fulfilled from our Doha warehouse with 1–2 week delivery across the GCC.

What you need to start pottery in Qatar

If you're new to ceramics, you need four things to make your first piece:

  1. Clay — 10 kg gets you started (about 20–25 small pieces)
  2. Glaze or underglaze — to colour and seal your fired pieces
  3. Basic tools — wire cutter, rib, sponge, needle tool (~150 QAR set)
  4. Firing access — kiln rental, studio membership, or your own kiln

You don't need to buy a pottery wheel to start. Most people begin with hand-building (no wheel required) or take a wheel-throwing workshop at our studio before investing in their own. See our pottery workshops if you want to try first.

Glazes and underglazes in Qatar

We stock Duncan (USA — gloss and matte glazes) and Mayco (USA — underglaze colours). Both fire to standard cone 06 (1000 °C) and work on any of our clay bodies. Most colours are kept in stock in our Doha warehouse.

Duncan glazes

Duncan IN-series gloss glazes range from food-safe whites and creams (IN-1100 White) to deep colours (IN-1026 Very Black, IN-1011 Royal Purple, IN-1666 Walnut Brown). Fully food-safe after firing. Single dip is sufficient for most colours.

Mayco underglazes

Mayco Fundamentals are 59 ml (2 oz) bottles — Cone 06 oxidation. Underglazes are applied before bisque firing or on bisque before a clear glaze top coat. They fire matte without a clear glaze for a chalky finish, or glossy when clear-coated.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy pottery clay in Qatar?

Ceramic Cube in Doha is the only authorised distributor of Georg & Schneider, Sio-2, Witgert and Pottery Crafts clay bodies in Qatar. We stock seven clay types from cream white to red stoneware, available in 10 kg vacuum-pugged blocks from 120 QAR.

Where can I buy a pottery wheel in Qatar?

Ceramic Cube is the authorised retailer in Qatar for Brent (USA) and Shimpo (Japan) pottery wheels. Models range from the Shimpo RK-5T tabletop (4,400 QAR) to the Brent C22253V Black Edition (16,700 QAR). All wheels are pre-order with 8–12 week lead time.

Do I need a pottery wheel to start pottery?

No. Hand-building (no wheel required) is the oldest pottery technique and produces beautiful work — many professional potters work hand-build only. You only need a wheel if you specifically want to make symmetrical thrown work. Try our hand-building workshop first to decide.

What glaze is food-safe for pottery in Qatar?

All Duncan IN-series glazes we stock are food-safe after firing to cone 06. Mayco underglazes alone are not food-safe — they need a clear glaze top coat to be food-safe. Always check the label and fire to the recommended cone temperature.

How much does it cost to fire pottery in Qatar?

Ceramic Cube's firing service starts at 18 QAR per small piece, 80 QAR per shelf for bisque firing, or 1,200 QAR for a full kiln. Members fire included in their monthly plan. We use Skutt kilns from the USA.

Can I take pottery classes in Qatar?

Yes. Ceramic Cube runs daily pottery workshops — wheel throwing (from 380 QAR), hand-building (from 300 QAR), kids' pottery (from 330 QAR), and private group bookings (from 1,700 QAR for 2). All materials and firing included.

Where is Ceramic Cube located?

Until May 2026: City Plaza Investment Building, Fox Hills, Lusail. From June 2026: a new home in Doha — we'll announce the address closer to opening. Open 1 PM – 9 PM, Saturday to Thursday (closed Friday). Tuesday is members-only.

Does Ceramic Cube deliver across the GCC?

Yes. We ship clay, glazes, tools and pottery wheels across the GCC — UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. Delivery is 1–2 weeks. Contact us via WhatsApp +974 6665 5986 with your list for a shipping quote.

What is the difference between Duncan and Mayco glazes?

Duncan IN-series are food-safe gloss glazes — fired alone they produce a shiny food-safe finish. Mayco Fundamentals are matte underglazes — used like paint before firing, need a clear top coat for a glossy or food-safe finish. Both are cone 06.
